The story of Soraé

Soraé comes from sora — the Japanese word for sky, space, freedom. And that's exactly what this brand is about: creating space in a world full of opinions, trends, and noise. To me, jewellery is never just decoration, but a statement — a way to express who you are, what you feel, and what you stand for.

I'm Inge, founder of Soraé and currently pursuing my education as a goldsmith. Based in Amsterdam — a city where creativity and style are constantly crossing paths — I run this brand together with my husband Andy, who is a gemmologist (the science of gemstones). Through my training as a goldsmith and my deep interest in jewellery design and form, I curate the collection with great care and attention to detail, ensuring that every piece is chosen with intention: sleek, bold, and enduring.

As I grow into the craft of goldsmithing, my appreciation for quality and design deepens every day. I look at jewellery not only as something beautiful, but as something that should feel reliable, well-made, and worthy of being worn often. Each piece is personally checked before it leaves our hands, so it meets the standard I would expect from jewellery myself — pieces you can wear daily, without hesitation.

That growing understanding of craftsmanship is also what led me to start Soraé. Once you learn what truly makes a piece well-made — the balance, the finish, the feel — it becomes difficult to accept that beautiful, reliable jewellery should only be within reach for a few. I wanted to create pieces that feel considered and refined, yet remain within reach for those who simply love good jewellery and want to wear it often, not just on rare occasions.

To me, quality should feel approachable rather than exclusive. Jewellery that looks refined, holds its beauty over time, and feels thoughtfully made, deserves a place in everyday life — moving with you, adapting to your mood, and naturally becoming part of your personal style.
